Wednesday Evening Walk -North Creek Trail- Mill Creek

For the remainder of May, let's do a series of river (or creek) walks.  Most of these are flat and paved for the majority of the way.  We will walk 3-5 miles, in about 1.5 to 2 hours (starting promptly at 7 we will be done by 9pm)

This week let's do the North Creek Trail starting in Mill Creek. We will begin at the parking lot off 164th where the Zen Garden Restaurant used to be and walk toward McCollum Park, and return the way we came.  This would be about 5 miles RTs shared by cyclists so dogs need to be on short leashes when on the main trail (no retractable leashes unless fully retracted).

Nice easy, level, paved trail running behind Mill Creek Town Center to McCollum Park.  About 5 miles round trip if we make it all the way to McCollum Park.

North Creek Trail

The ten foot wide hard surface
        trail is approximately 2.5 miles
        long running between McCollum
County Park and 164th St. SE.
        The trail was designed to
        accommodate a variety of uses
        such as walking, jogging, and
cycling.  The settling for the trail
is wooded with some gentle hills.
There is no lighting for night use.
        The trail offers great wetland
        vistas and bird watching.

Remember that the weather is getting warmer and access to the river may not always be possible (but is in some cases) so bring along water for your dogs and yourself.

Dogs in attendance must be leashed and have their owner present.

Children under the age of 12 must be in a stroller, leashed or have a separate handler than the dog. They are not allowed to walk the dog and must be respectful and stay away (unless invited) from dogs that are not their own.

We will make it a priority to walk as a group.  Paces may be a little different but I will stop along the way for others to catch up.  Everybody needs to watch out for others.  Let somebody know if you need a break or are going to turn around/

Please check email or this site the day of the event for any last minute changes or cancellations due to weather, road closures, illness, etc.  I will try to post last minute details by 7am.

It's getting redundant, but we had another wonderful walk and the weather wasn't bad at all. Great group once again. Love walking with you all; so do my dogs, especially when you have treats.

Let's try it. If we only go for a short walk we can always go for a drink afterwards. See the diehards at 7.

I may have to skip this. Sad cuz it is right down the street from me. I have a Dr appt that might cause me to run late. Also apparently Emma gave my husband a difficult time (upset stomach and stress behavior) from being left behind on Monday's walk. I know Teddy wouldn't argue. I dunno, we may still come out (if the weather allows).

Due to Kuma's injury, we are going to have to sit out for a few weeks.

Meet in the parking lot where the ZenGarden used to be - sign is gone but directions are the same. I think the Wasabi Sushi Bistro is the restaurant right beside this as well.
Because of the unstable weather, please check back later in the afternoon before leaving. I am going to leave the decision to cancel or not until 5PM to see if the predicted thunder storms play themselves out before hand. If things still look stormy at 5 I will cancel - rain is ok but not thunder and lightning. I am hoping things calm down by late afternoon.

Love participating with this group but I have several conflicts in schedule right now. Hope to join a Wednesday local walk soon. Have fun. Thanks.
