End of Summer Hike - Shhhh - It's a Secret

  • Aug 31, 2013 · 9:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Please read the entire description before RSVPing. The destination will be revealed at the end.  Only RSVP for the hike you intend to do.

After this hike is complete we will move on to the second location (see afternoon meet up description) for picnic - approx 11:30.

This is an end of summer celebration of all that we have done over this past year, especially this summer.  If you have been a regular attendee at our meet ups (either the week end hikes or the weekday evening hikes) you are invited to attend.

This meet up is not available to first time attendees (so get out and join us if you want to come).

There will be 2 hikes in the same area. I will do one in the morning and one in the afternoon and we will convene for a picnic in between.  You can do both hikes or just choose one. Both hikes will be under 4 miles RT, one easy one a little more challenging.

I would like to have a separate leader that would be willing to lead one or the other at the opposite time of me so then we could actually have 2 groups going at once,  One at either location , thus increasing the number of participants allowed. Does this make sense?

Please bring proper hiking gear for yourself and your dogs (dogs on leash), and a pack lunch for our picnic -unless somebody wants to get ambitious and is willing to volunteer to set up something more elaborate with cooking gear.

What is the early morning hike you ask: Barlow Point

This was a nice little hike and although the parking lot was full everybody was headed elsewhere and we had the trail to ourselves.
Started out cool but we warmed up quickly as we climbed and the views were spectacular from the top. I am glad I did this today and glad I had such great company.

Just a reminder, hopefully you read the hike description, but you do need a northwest forest pass for this trailhead (and for the big four ice caves trailhead as well). Meet at the trail head at 9am and we should start hiking shortly thereafter.
We should be done and at the ice cave picnic area by 11:30 ish if you are staying for the picnic. So bring lunch and snacks.
    Weather should be good.
I do not have cell service past granite falls so no use trying to call me after 8 am. but if you have questions here's my cell #[masked]

Conflict with the Corgi Fun Day... as we missed both the corgi picnic and the walk in the Pearl, I feel obligated to give Fergus some corgi time!

Will confirm the guest status with Dan. I'm not sure which hike I'm signed for but as this is a long drive for us, I'd like to do both.

I need the easiest one due to Roo and her leg, so would that be morning or afternoon?
