  • meet at skykomish deli to carpool or caravan to trailhead
  • Yak Trax or Microspikes Manditory on this hike.  Please make sure you bring a pair along with you.  Winter has started in the mountains and can make for slippery conditions.

Please read all the information and be sure you are able to do the distance and elevation. Also familiarize yourself with the info in the pages section on this meet up site.

I hiked this trail a couple of years ago.  It starts out fairly easily and gently along a ridge for about 2 miles before climbing up for the last mile or so.  It is not too strenuous if you just take your time on the climb.

Amble aimlessly along an easy ridge on the edge of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Scrounge for berries or lounge in sun-kissed meadows. Then follow a faint path to a long-ago lookout site still flush in stunning alpine views. Come in summer for dazzling floral displays or in autumn for carpets of crimson unfurled along the way. But no matter the season, come during the week, for Sawyer's admirers are legion.

Because of forecast high winds tomorrow, probably before we get a chance to finish this hike I am cancelling. I may put this a little later in November but please be aware that if there is much snow this trail becomes inaccessible. I am going to schedule Cougar Mtn for Sunday morning so if you still want to get out and hike please take the time to rsvp to that one.
