First Saturday Urban Hike-Magnolia Blvd Bluff to Discovery Park Loop Trail

I will plan a monthly urban hike, hopefully, in some beautiful areas of the cities. Plan on 6-8 miles with some hills possible, maybe some traffic or bicycles to contend with so dogs must be on a short leash (no retractable leashes).

Gardens should be starting to bloom and weather shouldn't be too cold.

This month let's start at Magnolia Park and walk the boulevard to Discovery Park and then do the loop trail through Discover Park before heading back. Views could be awesome as well as the gardens.

About 7-8 miles and 430 ft elevation gain, depending on the exact route we take.

Discovery Park link:

Dogs in attendance must be leashed and have their owner present.

No children under the age of 12, unless they are in a stroller.

We will make it a priority to walk as a group.  Paces may be a little different but I will stop along the way for others to catch up.  Everybody needs to watch out for others.  Let somebody know if you need a break or are going to turn around/

Please check email or this site the day of the event for any last minute changes or cancellations due to weather, road closures, illness, etc.  I will try to post last minute details by 7am.

Thanks Kathy! Beautiful walk and good company - thanks for organizing. I may have to invest in a "cooling vest" for Jim for future walks!

Great walk!!! The crazy way I went got me to 8.64 miles on my GPS. Can't believe I found you coming in from the opposite way! What great luck!

    Hi Kathy,

I am just RSVP'ing now, in hopes I could catch up with the group in an hour, if that's possible. Will head towards Discovery Park and hike on my own, anyway, but if you can give me a meeting point for say, 2pm, I'd love to see if I can meet up with you! Also, my cell number is[masked]-9926. Feel free to text, as well!

Sorry, we missed you Jean. These comments in the comment section don't get transmitted to me immediately. Can take up to an hour or so, so I didn't get this until it was too late. Hope you can make another hike soon.

I know road closures and traffic got in the way for some of you, but I thoroughly enjoyed the walk for those that made it or met us along the way. Thanks for coming out for this beautiful walk. See you all again soon.

See you all in a few hours. Meet in the parking lot of Magnolia Park, look for my blue Hyundai Tucson. My phone # is[masked] should you not see us, are running a little late or are lost. If you are running a lot late you can always drive along Magnolia Blvd to see if you can spot us and catch up when you do.
It is going to be warm so bring plenty of water for yourself and your dogs.

This meetup is "full". Please check your calendar. If you can't make it, change your RSVP to "no".

So that other people can get on the list. :-)
