Wednesday Evening Walk-Sammamish River Trail - Bothell

Days are starting to get shorter.   It will be getting darker as we finish our walks.  Time to find your flashlights and doggie lights.

This week let's do the Sammamish River Trail starting in Bothell. We will begin at the parking lot off 102nd and walk toward Blyth Park, then take the upper trail back and if time we can walk in the other direction to UW Bothell and make a loop back through Bothell.

We will do a figure 8 starting in the parking lot and walking towards Blyth Park. This is not lit so hopefully we will have enough light to complete, but bring along lights for  yourself and your dogs. Then we loop back through the parking lot and continue along until we reach the UW Bothell Campus turn off and we will return through Bothell. This part of the walk will have street lights.

This trail is shared by cyclists so dogs need to be on short leashes when on the main trail (no retractable leashes unless fully retracted).

Directions:
From I-405, take exit 23. Head west on WA-522 West. Bear right on to Kaysner Way. Turn left at Main Street. Turn left at 102nd Avenue NE. Arrive at[masked]nd Ave NE, Bothell 98011 (just over the bridge over the highway, turn right into the parking lot).
If you are coming from the west, follow WA-522 to Kaysner Way and turn L. and follow above directions.

We may be walking on trails in parks and probably some neighborhoods surround the parks. The paths may be muddy, dusty, uneven and rocky in places.  Come prepared with proper footwear - no flip flops or crocs.  There may be some uphill and down but I will try not to make it too strenuous and if you have difficulty let me know and I may be able to provide an alternate route.  We will walk 3-5 miles, in about 1.5 to 2 hours (starting promptly at 7 we will be done by 9pm)

Dogs in attendance must be leashed and have their owner present.

No children under the age of 12, unless they are in a stroller.

We will make it a priority to walk as a group.  Paces may be a little different but I will stop along the way for others to catch up.  Everybody needs to watch out for others.  Let somebody know if you need a break or are going to turn around/

Please check email or this site the day of the event for any last minute changes or cancellations due to weather, road closures, illness, etc.  I will try to post last minute details by 7am.

Great walk everybody. Thanks for coming out. Got a little eerie in the twilight and he bats flitting about overhead.

Kathy, since you mentioned bats, not sure you saw this but Feet First is having a Green Lake walk on Sept. 11 that includes a program on bats by Bats Northwest. We have a conflict and can't go but sounds interesting. http://www.meetup.com...

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and their pups! Was a nicely paced walk that allowed for everyone to interact/talk at different points along the way. Looking forward to going out with you all again!

This is an great easy walk with an abundance of greenery along the river and a couple of small bridges to cross. Enjoyed the company, the happy dogs and their nice people. A little sad that the (summer) sun is setting so early. Thanks again, Kathy.

To those joining us for the first time, we start right at. 7. But we start slowly as dogs need to do what dogs need to do. We are a large group( meaning in numbers) so you should see us in the parking lot. Look for my blue Hyundai Tucson otherwise

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
