Wednesday Evening Walk - Shoreline Interurban Trail @ Echo Lake Park

  • echo lake park

  • meet at parking area
  • This portion of the Interurban trail starts near the Aurora VillageTransit Center and runs by Echo Lake, behind the YMCA, Sky Nursery and then runs parallel to Aurora Avenue in front of the Bartell's shopping center to Walgreens.  It is wide and paved and the last section is well lighted.  I am not sure if the first section by the lake is lit up so bring a head lamp and/or flashlight. Wear proper footwear for the weather and conditions.  Rain, ice, frost can make for a slick walkway.

We could stop at Starbucks in Aurora Village for a hot drink afterwards.

How good are you at juggling a leash or two, a flashlight, a poop bag, and an umbrella while wearing gloves?  Not sure, then come walk with us on Wednesday evenings.  You will get plenty of practice.

Let's continue meeting in the evening for a walk.  We will just have to stick to lighted streets and not trails.  Be sure that you are equipped to be seen in the waning light.  Bring a flashlight and/or put lights on yourself and your dogs.  I use Nite Ize Lights.  They are great little lights (come in a variety of colors) that either flash or have a steady beam and clip nicely onto the dog's collar and my zipper pull.  They are widely available at most pet stores (next to nature, All the Best) and drug stores (Bartell's).  I am open to suggestions about where you like to walk so if you have a favorite route let me know and I may post it.

Dogs in attendance must be leashed and have their owner present.

No children under the age of 12, unless they are in a stroller.

We will make it a priority to walk as a group.  Paces may be a little different but I will stop along the way for others to catch up.  Everybody needs to watch out for others.  Let somebody know if you need a break or are going to turn around/

Please check email or this site the day of the event for any last minute changes or cancellations due to weather, road closures, illness, etc.  I will try to post last minute details by 7am.

Its pretty soggy right now, but I will not cancel just yet. Rain is supposed to ease off to scattered showers, and if that is the case I will still go. There is parking for about ten cars right at the park. If this is full, park at the transit center and walk across. Hope to see you all later.
If you get snow don't venture out tonight. Check back later to see if I have cancelled. If no notice, I will be there. Stay safe, dry and warm.

Do you mean meet at the Echo Lake parking area off of Ashworth Ave N.? For some reason when I click on the map it shows the meeting spot as way down on 192nd.

Yes, it is at the intersection of 200th and Ashworth Ave N. Near Aurora Village Transit Center. I have changed the address (meet up gave address for the apartments up the way and not the park)
