Conditioning Hike - Wallace Falls -(Possibly Wallace Lake Loop )

Traction devices for your  feet are recommended on this hike.  We may encounter some snow up near the upper falls.  If you plan to go that far traction devices may be helpful.NO Children under the age of 16.

Please read all the info I have in the Pages section of this site and come prepared. You are responsible for your own safety , but your preparedness affects the entire group.

Please be aware that at this time of year, especially, that inclement weather, dangerous road conditions and illness may cancel or postpone this event.  Please be sure to check this site before leaving to attend for any last minute updates.

A series of falls, nine in all, two that are stunning and one-the tallest at 265 feet-that's absolutely spectacular! As Wallace Falls is one of the best known and loved sets of cataracts in the Evergreen State, expect plenty of company on this hike. And while these falls are grand any time of year, visit on a rainy day. Each raindrop that falls from the heavens and makes its way to the Wallace River enhances the intensity and stimulating beauty of this cavalcade of crashing cascades.

Dogs allowed on leash

Dogs are required to be leashed on this hike (no retractible leashes or leashes longer than 6 ft). If you decide you want to unleash your dog, it must be under voice control, stay on the trail, and away from leashed dogs. Give your self and dog adequate space from others. Please respect other hikers on the trail and restrain your dog when approaching or being approached by others. This will be the first meeting for many of the dogs, so let them get acquainted slowly as we walk. It takes time to form a pack. Not all dogs want to be greeted exuberantly, so take care and precaution. Also, dog waste needs to be buried (6 inches) or carried. Leaving along the trail to be picked up later is an eyesore for others , even in a bag,(especially with the number in our group) and is sometimes forgotten on the way out.

Hello all. I just joined this group, so I haven't met anyone in person. I was on the waitlist for this hike, but because of the free day, chose to go on my own. I'm curious if I may have passed you on my way up. Did you all make it up to the upper falls?

The hike was lovely, but ended up being much longer than I'd planned. Rosie and I were sore on Sunday.

Welcome to our group, Brian. We did make it to the upper falls and on our way back down we switched over to the railroad grade for a less busy way down. You likely did see us among the scores of hikers out on this day. We started at about 9:45 and were down about 2 ish. Hope you can make a hike with us soon. Stay tuned. :)

Fabulous weather and good company make for a great day. I have never hiked this trail in such good conditions. The falls are as fabulous in the rain as in the sun so this makes a great rainy day, winter hike. I never knew you could get such great views, too, from certain spots. The trail, as expected, was very busy with hikers so coming back via the railroad grade we were able to find some peace.
Thanks for coming out everyone. Happy Easter!

Our hike this weekend took just under 3 hours. This hike we will be adding about a mile so I figure about 4 hours or so hiking time. I do not plan on doing the long Wallace Lake loop this time out (reports are alot of downed trees above the upper falls and snow). Only to the upper falls and back.
March 30th is a fee free day at State Parks (100 yr birthday for state parks) so this could be a busy day.
Anybody want to carpool from the Edmonds area. I have room for one or 2 with a dog. Mountlake Terrace freeway station or Bothell's Canyon Park P&R?

Does anyone have any ideas of about how many hours to estimate we will be out on this hike? I know some of it depends on conditions when we get there, but I was just hoping to get a rough idea. Thanks!
