Friendly Tennis in Deep Cove Myrtle Park

RESCHEDULED TO A WEDNESDAY.

"Non-combat" tennis lobbers and volleyers for friendly hits at one of the most beautifully secluded and unknown wonders (shhhhhh!!) in Metro Vancouver. Myrtle Park. Look it up, overhead, from Google Maps.

Let's play if weather is nice only.

The courts are correctly oriented in respect to sunset and is surrounded by tall trees that protect the court from crosswind.

It is almost as good as the courts at the legendary Lorne Park tennis club in Mississauga. The surface is quick-dry, but with a reasonably small pebbling, unlike the one near Second Narrows Bridge.

Very few people play at these great courts.

It was great fun! We had to change location to Cates Park though, as the tennis court at Myrtle got closed down recently for city work.

Great to swing a racket again after so long - with a fun and non-competitive group.

We moved the meetup to Cates Park, then had dinner (loser pays, lol) after a full set. Non-combat friendly games with lots of kidding around and kibitzing. "Professional" shots were frowned upon.

Due to popular demand, this meetup will be re-scheduled in two weeks or so.

    Hi Jini,
I live in the West End and I'm driving, ...if you're in the downtown area would you like to carpool and share gas expense?

Oh good! I'm glad you actually answered my question. I know it sounded funny - but there's no other way to put it :)

Sorry, I cannot find my tennis racket which is in my storage locker. I looked last weekend and don't know where the heck it is. Until I find it, I have to bow out.

Rescheduled to next week due to thunderstorm/rain forecast. It is also worse in Deep Cove.

Hi Shahri, it's been so many years since I've played that I'm almost a beginner again. Still it would be good to get out and hit the ball again. So I'm up for it if Rob agrees. Thanks!

... is a great idea, and I would like to join. It's just been so many years since I've played and it would take some time to get back in form. Myrtle Park is a wonderful venue (as is Cates Park).
