CALLING ALL MEMBERS - BUT I ONLY NEED ONE
Please consider volunteering for this much needed role in our vibrant Social Club...
Your organizer - Kim - is now working and living full-time on Vancouver Island and Your Co-organizer - Lisa - is now working and living full-time in Dubai. And for those of you who have travelled the BC Ferry you will know that it almost takes as much time and money to get to either place!
I don't mind continuing to pay the 6 month fee to Meetup Central for the web-site (as long as I am reimbursed when we do a membership fee drive) BUT I simply cannot manage the web-site and the emails on my own! I must have help or I will need to pass on the torch as this group's organizer and someone else will have to pay the fee.
Being a co-organizer does not mean that you have to organize tons of events.
Being a co-organizer does mean you are somewhat computer savvy and you are comfortable working in a word format to edit other people's events and postings as needed and that you have a smart phone and are willing to track messages posted to events and the message board and respond when a response is required or requested by a member.
Mostly it just involves reading the events posted to make sure they are written in a way that members can understand the posting and there is nothing on the 'sketchy' side being posted to the event calendar, event comments, or the message boards.
By 'Sketchy' I mean events like "lets go see a Porno flick!", or comments like "hey, Susan you sure looked HOT last night, or message board posts like "I'm selling my collection of ninja turtles".
Being a co-organizer also means you help read and respond to emails received on the club's outlook mail account (for which I would give you the password).
Here you will find questions like - "I can't seem to post my profile picture", or, "can I please join your group", or, "can you contact Bill and tell him to stop stalking me..." On a more practical note - it may just be "I can't go to the dance on Friday" and then you have to either go into the RSVPs for the event and remove them, or send the member an email to ask them to remove themselves and change their RSVP on the site to "NO".
PLEASE, consider this request... it isn't a huge time commitment, but it IS important & I DO need help.
