Cruelty-Free Thanksgiving Celebration!!!

Enjoy a new tradition of kindness this holiday season! Bring your friends and family to our annual, cruelty-free Thanksgiving day vegan potluck and celebration! This is always one of our biggest events of the year and we look forward to sharing the warmth and joy of the season with the you. Come find out how warm and delicious a compassionate holiday feast can be! If you can lend a hand to help get the party up and running, please let us know. Volunteers needed for setup, decorating and cleanup. Please contact Hope (see below) if you can help out.

Remember, you don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to attend. Just bring a vegan dish to share for the holiday dinner. Vegan simply means no animal products - no meat, dairy, eggs or honey. Please also bring your own plate, cup, fork and spoon to conserve resources and cut down on trash. As a gentle reminder, please don't wear any perfumes or strong smelling deodorants or aftershaves. Some of our members are sensitive to artificial fragrances and have requested this be a "scent-free" event.

For more information please contact Hope at [masked] or 540-1760.

    & it wasn't just the food but the conversations.
    Maybe some didn't hear Wade's story about how last year wild turkeys were walking around Monroe Hall during the Thanksgiving meal......he didn't say if they just walked right in through the front door and walked about on the dance floor.
    just gonna change one word in the quote;
    -the only real voyage of discovery lies not in seeking new distractions
    but in seeing with new eyes.-

    Lots of the traditional foods lie tofurkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and yams are a big hit and we run out early of them every year. So the more folks can bring of these the better for everyone! And yes desserts run out too, so look at it as your great opportunity to try those vegan dessert recipes you always wanted to try!

      Yes, We need lots of mashed potatoes - Lots of yams, Lots of stuffings, Lots of Desserts....otherwise, we will run out of food!

      1 · November 26, 2013

      Last year the desserts disappeared before people had finished eating their main dishes. I guess people added them to their plates the first time through the line, knowing that they'd be gone later.

    Hi there! While this is a 'free' event, please do note that it is a potluck, and will not be catered - except by Us! I *think* I'm correct in saying that CLO has been awesome enough to rent the hall, and do a Lot of organizing....but the fabulosity of the potluck is up to You and Me. Yay! :) I really look forward to people making an effort to make something fabulous and enough to feed quite a few for this community event. It's not required, of course - but the food does go quickly - and if you are able, it's a help. If you think you can't cook, just do a search for 'easy vegan potluck food' and you'll come up with so much that doesn't require much except maybe some cutting up and mixing. Brussel Sprouts? Drissel with oil, bake - and you're done. Yum! Chocolate tofu mousse? Whip up a few ingredients and you're done. Yay! Okay, I'll shut up now - and hope I've fallen on the side of 'motivating' and apologize if I slipped to nagging.
