Wouldn't it be nice to cook just one big meal for the week? What if you could exchange that 1 dinner for 5?

With the Meatless Mondays Meal Exchange, just cooking that one big meal brings you a whole week's worth of vegan food variety!

Here's how it works:

1. Use a vegan recipe and shop for ingredients to make enough dinner for five large-size portions. You will also need five cheap re-useable containers. (Glad, etc.)

2. Print five copies of the recipe to bring with you. Put these in a paper grocery-size bag with five utensils for tasting.

3. Divide your dish into the containers and add them to your bag before you go.

4. Sample each other's meals Monday night and exchange!

5. You will leave the event with five delicious new meals for the week! PLEASE Keep RSVP's current as this event is limited to five attendees, leave a message with what you plan to bring, and feel free to share recipes or links in the comments. Stay inspired and Happy Cooking!

This was great! I have meals to last the rest of the week and all the food was delish. I hope more people will do this...Perhaps we can send a poll out to find out if there is a better day or what is holding them back.

More attendance is critical to keeping it going, but what great food selections! We dined on Vegan breaded shrimp with garlic siracha aioli, orange chickenless delight, and delicious vegan chili and veggie rice bowls. (We also had fun feeding chihuahuas Lola and Jessy Lu chickpeas!)

Hi. I might be getting a dog on Sunday - and if I do I won't be able to make it - so I guess I won't be able to commit to this week. But, it's a great idea, and hope to be able to fit it into my schedule. If anyone else is going from Sebastopol and would like to carpool, then we'd *have* to go. It's so easy to get 'stuck' in Sebastopol, but I'll def try to remember next week. Great idea, and thank you Ilona. My email is: herbivores@yahoo if you have a list; I don't even know how to check the meetup one anymore. Meet you all soon I hope! Hari

Thanks for the advance notice. I hope we can all be accommodating and make this event gluten-free. Please RSVP, share your recipe and see you there!

I would like something like this if we can eat together before we go home

if you do a vegan raw, I think Karin might join...

I do enjoy raw foods! There is a group in Rohnert Park that has Raw Potlucks and they are amazing!

Of course we can eat together before we go!

I want to do this but there has not been enough support from the Northbay Vegans yet, so either we get 4 sign ups by Feb.20th or it's canceled. If someone wants to take it up as an organizer you are more than welcome, you can contact Wade. Thanks for your interest and happy cooking.

What a GREAT idea! My diet is too specific for this to work for me though.

    February 5, 2014

    • Lo Z.

What are the guidelines of your diet? I hope it could work, the idea is, if all the recipes are shared, you'd know right away if the meal is within your diet or not.

Ilona - where do you get the throw away food containers?

    January 10, 2014

    • Karin L.

      They can be RE-USED!

      February 5, 2014

    • Lo Z.

Any store like Target or the supermarket. Glad reusable containers work. You can then re-use the containers for the next event. They come in a 5 pack usually.
