Monthly Vegan Potluck & Cooking Demo

Join us for great food and conversation at our monthly vegan potluck and a cooking demonstration by Maria Clementi of Whole Foods.

Remember, you don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to attend. Just show up with a vegan dish to share with at least 8 people. Vegan simply means no animal products — no meat, dairy, eggs or honey.

Please also remember to bring your own plate, cup and silverware utensils. We would like to make this a waste-free event.

We are deeply grateful to the Sonoma Humane Society for continuing to make their classroom available to us for our potlucks and other events. The Sonoma Humane Society is just west of Llano Rd. on the north side of Highway 12, between Santa Rosa and Sebastopol (look for the big metal dog). You can park around back if you'd like, the classroom is the furthest left door on the back of the building. For more information: CompassionateLivingOutreach.org.

After our potluck, around 6:45 - 7:00 Maria Clementi, Whole Foods Healthy Eating Specialist will teach us healthy fast foods.  If you ask Maria the number one tip for healthy eating, she would say cooking and preparing your food  yourself.  Maria also offers ongoing demonstrations at Whole Foods in Coddington.

That was a good enchilada! Mary gave a great demo! Thanks again to the Keifery for sending over the Keifer water - their shop is right next to Starbucks in the little plaza at: 972 Gravenstein Hwy S, Sebastopol Ca., CA 95472
They will offer free tasting to visitors, so you can sample a variety of flavors including a really full flavor raw cacao keifer that's infused with reshi mushrooms - I didn't realize the health benefits by the flavor - tastes like a chocolate truffle. It's a must-see/taste. They are open Tuesday-Sat 11am - 5pm if interested. They sent us the gallon of the turmeric keifer to sample. http://www.thekefiry.com/; The turmeric is their strongest variety, everything else gets better from there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oZYe0qaoMw#t=628
I was trying to get the time/hours right, posted twice, I apologize. The video shows varieties & sampling. The varieties change with the seasons so expect something new each time.

Too much food at the potluck for a change - Ellen's cake was fantastic - Our speaker was wonderful - I learned so much - knife skills, and other secret things - And best of all, she prepared a massaged kale salad and got me to love kale...I've been trying to like it for 4 years now! It's all about breaking down the structure to get rid of the bitter!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
