West County Walkers & Potluck event

Armstrong Redwoods: Meet in the main parking lot outside of the park. We will walk along the trail to the right. Hike at 10am going uphill and ending downhill. Try to be about 10 minutes early to gather.

Walking sticks welcome on this trail.

Potluck items should be able to be stored for up to 1.5 hours.

Wear good shoes, bring cameras, bring utensils, plates, and a cup.

It's summertime, so a fruitluck will follow our walk. Please bring a vegan fruit based dish. Uncooked food does best in the summer for storing in the car during the walk. If you would like to join for the fruitluck we will have a sign on the back window of my little red Scion Xb (Square toaster looking car) so you can see we are there, and we will bring that sign to the table wherever we can grab a picnic bench. (hopefully the one at the parking lot, but if it's taken we will try to get one as close as possible to the lot in the park).
Also, if you show up just for the fruitluck please feel free to grab the table sign, and bring it to the picnic bench to hold a good table till the walkers get back. We will look for the sign as we return to the cars to get potluck items.

Vegan items should not contain any animal products or refined products including whey, casein, lactose, honey, albumin, meat broths, animal fats, or previously living creatures. Check ingredient lists carefully before adding. -Ivy

Dogs: Dogs are allowed on paved areas on leash, there's a long road that flows through the park that is paved asphalt used by many cars - this MeetUp will not include dogs. Sorry. Our next walk will be dog friendly.

PS- lock your car doors & windows, theft has occurred in the parking lot before.

The hike starts at 10am sharp, please be on time, two hours is more than enough for the hike and potluck, then hopefully off to Andreas' Backyard Fruitluck :) As far as what to bring, I'm bringing cut melon. My cooler is quite small and I'm not in the market for a cooler, but my experience is if we are walking for the 45 minutes we will not really need much of a cooler. That's really why raw food prepared is best, since it can be eaten at room temperature or car warmed over 45 minutes without spoilage.

Oh no, I'm hosting a post-birthday Fruitluck the same day: "Cotati Backyard Fruitluck (North Bay)"

Sounds like a truly good time and gives us a chance to see how the drought is affecting the area. I had a house in Meeker and wandered the hills a lot though I never found that fabled pool. It's actually the reservoir for the water system so not for swimming. There's a pool over at Occidental Arts & Ecology up on Coleman Valley Road - a good road in itself - which will take you out to Ocean. Haven't been out Willow Creek for years - a long sweet drive through the coastal hills to Jenner. I have lived in west county for most of my time in county, now, to my surprise, coming up on my 40th year here.
