Let's head out to beautiful Grass Valley for a tour and vegan picnic at Animal Place Santuary!
Founded in 1989 Animal Place is one of the oldest and largest sanctuaries for farmed animals in the country. Nestled on 600-acres in Grass Valley, CA, Animal Place provides refuge to hundreds of neglected farmed animals.
Animals arrive from myriad sources – factory farms, slaughterhouses, research facilities, and neglect or cruelty cases. All animals find a haven where all their needs are met and their individual quirks respected.
Oak knolls, gently sloping hills, beautiful meadows and irrigated pastures make Animal Place’s sanctuary in the Sierra foothills a true safe haven. All the animals at Animal Place sanctuary are permanent residents, getting an opportunity to grow old.
Tours ($10 each) last two hours and entail a lot of walking on flat ground. The facility is wheelchair accessible, although there are some rocky portions of the property.
**And don't forget to bring a dish to share for the vegan potluck picnic after our tour!**
Visitor dogs are not permitted. This is for their safety and that of the animals. Please leave companion dogs at home.
We meet at the Church of the Incarnation (550 Mendocino Avenue) parking lot (on Cherry St) at 9:15 and leave at 9:30 sharp to arrive at Animal Place at 11:00.
Bring $10 for the tour, more money if you'd like to shop and support the on-premise store, comfy/warm clothes, and an easy-to-transport vegan dish to share.
