Larry Vogel has been involved in photography since 1976. Larry has exhibited his work since 1979, including exhibitions at The Ansel Adams Gallery in  Yosemite ,  California , the Susan Spiritus Gallery in Newport Beach,California, and the Africus, Johannesburg Biennale. Vogel's work can be found in numerous private and corporate collections. He was awarded a photographic scholarship from The Friends of Photography for the Ansel Adams Photography Workshops in 1983, which Vogel says he was fortunate to have attended, as it was the last workshop that the renowned photographer, Ansel Adams, was alive to teach. Larry Vogel is the founder and director of two photography groups, the Digital Photo Exchange (DPX) which meets monthly in Oceanside, and The Photographers' Exchange, which has held monthly meetings in Irvine since 1990. Vogel also conducts a series of monthly workshops. The Last Saturday Photoshop Workshops is all about digital processing techniques for photographers. Cameras on Location is another series where each month a location is selected for the class. The primary objective is to get out on location to work on specific camera techniques and improve the way we see and shoot. Since it's located not far from the 805, it should be fairly accessible from North County locations and other areas of the county.

This is the new location for our monthly gatherings:


Coco's Restaurant & Bakery is located at 5955 Balboa Ave., just west of I-805 before Genesee Ave., on the south side of the street.

There is free WiFi, lots of comfy seating, plenty of parking around back and good food and drink are available.

IT'S IMPORTANT WE SUPPORT THE VENUE SO WE CAN CONTINUE HAVING USE OF THIS FACILITY FOR OUR GATHERINGS.

This event includes an optional PRINT EXCHANGE. Not necessary to bring a print with you, but if you do, you will be going home with someone else's photo art. See rules below.

Rules for those bringing prints to exchange:

• Bring a photographic print of your work (ANY subject matter:) to trade with your fellow members. The print should be something that could be displayed on a wall but does not have to be matted (but can be). Color or black and white, ANY subject matter.

• Prints should be brought to this event in a manila envelope or wrapped up so that the imagery cannot be seen beforehand. Each one will be numbered and corresponding numbers will be picked from a hat by members until all prints have been distributed. When all the prints have been distributed, we will open them and view them one by one in their numbered order.

• You can trade prints afterwards if you'd like.

PRINT SIZES SHOULD BE 8x10 or larger. Please ADD YOUR NAME to the back of the print.

• NOTE: If you do NOT bring a print, you will NOT receive one. We are hoping that ALL attendees will be bringing a print to share.

REMEMBER: You are ENCOURAGED to bring a print to this event though it is NOT mandatory.

• Meetup at 6:30 for food, drinks & socializing.

After brief introductions, we will feature photography show & tell, where you can bring cameras or other photography related items of interest to show to the group.

Print exchange will begin at approximately 7:00.

If you have items of a photography nature to SELL (such as cameras, lenses, tripods, etc.) you can bring them to the meeting also. Please limit items to just a few.

We will also be answering your photography questions and discussing technique and other issues among the group. Please bring your questions for us to discuss/answer.

We will be hosting guest speakers at some of these meetings too, so please check back for additional content or info to be added later.



 

Show your latest photo related work, see other member's photos and bring your creative ideas to the table while networking with your fellow Photography Group members.

Friend are always welcome but please rsvp for them so we know how many to expect.

Come early and join us for dinner, typically half an hour before the scheduled meetup.

    Was good info! Saw some new software and will look at processing my pics from Photoshop in stead of Lightroom when there are corrections to more than a few pics.
    My first attended meeting and hope to come back. Nice to have a program. Some good experienced people!
