Uniting people and water!
Dear friends of water:
After much contemplating I just couldn't do it. I couldn't let the group disband after the close of the 2015 season. All of you who have ventured out with me are the reason I kept the group going. And so I bring you another year of sun tans and paddling.
There is one change coming this year: Since taking the helm in late 2008 I have footed the cost of the site. Beginning in July I am instituting an annual membership drive. Membership dues will keep us alive until far into the future. Members can contribute ahead of time at a scheduled trip (save yourself a few bucks), or through Meetup's electronic payment system (which incurs fees). Members can expect to contribute at most $12 (this includes fees through Meetup's electronic payment system). Members who do not contribute are automatically removed and must make a contribution to rejoin the group.
Now for the good stuff
Northern Virginia Water Sports members are a diverse group of laid back individuals who just want to get on, in, or be near the water, relax, and enjoy a few hours of sunshine. The membership comprises of paddlers, boaters, skiers, SCUBA divers, and those who participate in other types of water sport activities.
While the main theme of the group has focused on kayaking, a wildly popular activity in this area, we want to expand our horizons with new activities such as beach volleyball and tubing. The aim is to continually increase membership participation by spreading around the activities.
Whether you have joined us in the past or have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for an interesting activity come on out and at least say hi. We promise not to feed you to the fish!
Welcome, Water Sports enthusiast!
