Howdy. Looking for more safe trad climbing buddies.
Lead trad up to around 10b/c, sport a bit higher. Comfortable on face & crack, slowly gaining skill on offwidths. Been climbing maybe 15 years, on and off. Have a Wilderness First Responder cert, and practice climbing self-rescue periodically. Used to teach outdoor ed, leading groups backpacking, rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, and the like, so I have a decent sense of risk management, weather, backcountry navigation, etc.
12 hour drive? Depends on the meetup. With the exception of cragging, I don't usually just come to group events and climb with whoever is available -- I like to know my partners a little first, and have partners somewhat lined up. So, if I have a partner I know lined up, I'll go pretty far. If I don't have a partner lined up, I may drive a few hours but end up just using that trip to get to know people and not climb.
Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne, Lovers Leap, Donner, other areas around Tahoe, Joshua Tree, Red Rock (not "frequently", but it's one of the faves).
Hey! I know you sent me an email but have noooo idea how to respond to it. In fact, I can't even find it on my Meetup wall for crying out loud. Will you email me at [masked]? Thanks!
Hi Kent! Mostly at Bridges, although at IW once in awhile. I've only taken a lead class once, but haven't had much practice yet!
Hey Kent, I would love to ride in that area. i did a 9 mi run there last weekend and saw a couple bikers on the way. Let me know if you would like to ride this weekend or next. Annie
