*** COME JOIN US FOR A FUN FILLED FILED TRIP TO THE BUTTERFLY HOUSE AT FAIR PARK. ***

Greetings Nature Lover Members,

Our first Field Trip for the new year will take us to the Butterfly House at the Texas Discovery Gardens in Fairpark. This is an indoor environment where over 15 different species of butterflies fly freely throughout this structure. Here is a great opportunity to photograph these beautiful creature in their own habitat in an open environment. The Butterfly House is kept at a warm temperature with a slight humidity level. Thus, you will want to wear light clothing and layers.

Here is the Ticket information from the Discovery Garden.  Tickets cost to enter the Butterfly House are as follows...

Butterfly House Exhibit Admission:

Adults = $8

Seniors (60+) = $6

Children (3-11) = $4

So bring your cameras, a tripod or monopod, and your favorite lenses. Don't forget plenty of media cards. Post a comment to the Web page of this event to coordinate if anyone wants to carpool.

Hope to see you there,

    Anyone know what lens they will be sporting tomorrow? This newbie is trying to decide. Thanks in advance for your input.

      I'll have my 100mm macro lens. I rarely take it off my camera, I love it so much :)

      Jump on the DART train. It will drop you off at the Fairs front door. Only 5 bucks.

      sorry but I don't feel safe carrying my camera gear and being alone on that thing. I may just sit this one out.

    The previous statement is NOT correct. I have taken my camera gear to the Discovery center for 5 years in a row and I do not have any problems with my camera body nor any of my lenses. DO NOT get scared off with any WRONG rumors regarding the care of your camera and this venue.

      Thank you for the tips. Would you recommend only using a prime lens? Being new I only have three lens. 18 - 55, 50 prime and 75 - 300. Any suggestions appreciated.

      If no car pooling is coming to Plano I'll not be able to attend. I hate driving on the freeway!

    The second you pull your camera out everything will fog up lens wise eye piece and etc.. Wait a little bit and the fog will clear up. I would bring some sort of absorbent cloth to clean off the water build up on your lenses. Also the above misters leak and you might want to watch out for drops of water on your gear. Leave your phone tucked away in a moister resistant bag as well maybe a zip lock until you are done.

    The humidity is very high there like 100% use a sealed prime lens and sealed camera or the whole camera will get soaked inside and out. You will get great photos just do not destroy your camera in the process.
