New Meetup: Kendall Katwalk & Ridge/Gravel Lakes

Announcing a new Meetup for Eastside Hikers Meetup Group!

What: Kendall Katwalk & Ridge/Gravel Lakes

When: Tuesday, August 3,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Preston Park & Ride
I-90 Exit 22
Preston, WA 98050

The Katwalk is finally snowfree, so let's take Tuesday off and hike up the PCT from Snoqualmie Pass to Ridge & Gravel Lakes. I usually continue on to Alaska Mtn, but I shall try to control myself and not force you all on another death march!

The PCT is wide, never steep, and has great views once above treeline. The Katwalk was blasted out of solid rock to get across a steep rock face. First-timers will feel giddy! Don't worry, it is totally safe, built wide enough for horses. Flower meadows for the final mile to the lakes. Hop in if you dare.

This special place is way too crowded over the weekend and is best enjoyed on a sunny weekday. Stiil, we will have to share it with others.

Stats: GT map says 14mi RT with 2,500' gain. It never feels like that far to me. I usually take the much shorter Commonwealth Basin trail (not maintained) which shaves at least 3 miles off round-trip.

Bring plenty of water, good boots, and your 10 Essentials. No babies or dogs.

Meet 8am at the Preston Park & Ride on I-90, Exit 22. We will carpool to the trailhead.
