The Fez--Bring your favorite spice or your favorite gourmet Chocolate Bar!!!

  • December 19, 2013 · 7:30 PM

At our Hanukah Party, we did a gift exchange of a favorite food item. It was a blast and so neat to see what NEAD foodies love or have in their pantries at home.

Let's do it again for our Christmas Party at the Fez.

Bring a wrapped $10 gift of EITHER your ALL TIME favorite SPICE or your FAVORITE Chocolate Bar. Obviously, a $10.00 box of chocolate is not good quality so we are aiming for quality here over quantity so just bring a BAR of your favorite gourmet chocolate of choice (these typically run about $6.00) and there are some really cool gourmet chocolate bars out there.

You can also just bring $10.00 worth of truffles or chocolate by the piece if you prefer. For example, two pieces of Chocopologie would be an example.

The key is: quality. Yes, we all love Hersey's but let's do something fun and more unique.

Dark Chocolate choices are welcome as is organic chocolate.

If your favorite spice is only $5.00 you may spring for two if you want. Feel free to spend up to $10.00.

Can't wait to see everyone's choices!

Oh, and the spices and be FRESH by all means. So, if you want to bring a bunch of thyme or Italian Parsley do it!

Be as creative as you want.

The music was this very intriguing blue grass band with a female Johnny Cash...

Thanks to everyone for participating in the favorite chocolate or spice gift exchange. Those were some pretty interesting choices everyone brought. And, the gift wrapping was amazing. Hope you enjoyed our Christmas in Tennessee I mean Morroco! The singer was fabulous and that band was amazing.

So excited to be able to try Debra Ann's chocolate's Steve. What good taste. Thanks for going there and bringing them into our dinner party. You made the evening so special.

I loved the food and the music was amazing. I felt like we were celebrating New Year's more than Christmas.

Wrapping up my favorite (obscure) spice, and getting my appetite ready, despite food limitations I've placed on myself for this week. The menu looks awesome! (I am vegetarian/piscevorian this week, with NO desserts and low carb.) It can be done here...

Yes, I was really looking forward to this as it has vegetarian choices for me...is it possible to have those of us who have confirmed a long time ago for this take a vote and pick a date in January??? Thanks...

    • audrey f.

Jeanne, could you host this one?

      December 12, 2013

    • Jeanne

Not sure yet Audrey, it depends on the date...have fun and see all of you soon!

Now that I'm working in the city the timing could be tight. Save me a seat and I'll be there when I get there! :-)

OMG. You are .07 miles (3 minutes by car) from my favorite Lobster Roll on Cornelia street. Let me know if you are ever free on a Friday. I will take the day off and meet you for lunch at Pearl.

Agree with Jeanne and others. We have a conflict on yhe new night. Perhaps a "take two" in January?

We can't afford to take over the WHOLE restaurant like them. And, even with a RSVP list of 30 chances are only 21 of us will show...which can't compete against their private part of 50 plus. Small businesses have to make a buck.

And since Christmas is the season of forgiveness...we forgive them.

Is finding another location for the original date and time an option?

    December 12, 2013

  • Jeanne

Hi Audrey! Do you think you might consider changing the date? I have a couple of events and have to choose which one to go to that evening...seems like other people have the same issue...

Got my chocolate bar to bring. Can't wait to see your guys' choices. Remember you can bring a bar of gourmet chocolate (or pieces worth up to $10.00) or you can bring your favorite spice (in a jar or fresh) whatever rocks! Although, I admit fresh spices or herbs are probably harder to wrap. Still, we are looking to try things and learn from each other about our foodie favorite items.

Please update your RSVP guys. For those of you who can't make it, we will get together in the New Year! I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Sorry, we've been shoved over for an office of Hedge Fund workers. This date is moving to next Thursday, same time, same place.

Will you send out another notice to sign up closer to the event? I can't sign up for something 7 months in advance - I can hardly commit to something 2 weeks in advance with the way my schedule is! Unless another notification is sent out closer I will likely miss the event.

I add them to my Google calendar. A quick scan of the month tells you what's up.

      April 8, 2013

    • Diann

I think what would work is a waiting list, as I think Tanya doesn't want to take up a spot months ahead and have to bow out. That's my guess, anyway. (I'd be interested in a waiting list myself for this one, but a meal starting at 7:30 -- and that's just getting seated -- is not a good idea for me on a weekday night.)

December ?? It is a favorite local place for the food and the music. Will likely be there a dozen times before the meetup in December

It is often an after dinner/end of evening stop for music & friends more than a dinner visit.
