Riak Night at NoSQL NL

  • Jul 24, 2013 · 6:00 PM

This meetup will be all about Riak (, an open source, distributed NoSQL database. Riak is highly available, fault tolerant, scalable and simple to operate. We have two speakers and of course, pizza and drinks for all! As speakers we have someone from Basho, the creators of Riak and the author of a Riak client written in Scala.

For this meetup TomTom generously offered to provide a great location very close to the Central Station in Amsterdam. Pizza and drinks will be provided by the usual suspects.

18.00 - 18.45: eat pizza and drink drinks

18.45 - 19.30: Building scalable, distributed applications with Riak, by Joel Jacobsen

19.45 - 20.30: Tips for (web) application design when working with Riak, by Age Mooij

20.30 - end: more drinking drinks

About the speakers:

Joel Jacobson (@joeljacobson) is part of the Technical Evangelism team at Basho technologies, where he helps build the Riak community in Europe. Prior to Basho he worked with Neo Technologies and others as part of his role at the consultancy OpenCredo.

Age Mooij (@agemooij) is CTO of software development at Xebia. He is passionate about software design, high quality code, innovation, and new technology. Age is fluent in Java, Scala, JavaScript, Objective-C and more.
