A relaxed way to meet new people and talk about books, films, and whatever else comes to mind. New members are always welcome so there's no need to be apprehensive - we're a friendly bunch!
In addition to the book group we also have a monthly film night at the Broadway cinema with a chance to meet up prior to the films and then to talk about them afterwards.
Members can say as much or as little as they like without feeling pressured to stick to certain topics or opinions. As well as introducing one another to new authors and the latest cinema releases the group is a great way for people to get to know one another more generally.
We also calendar events from the Nottingham Café Scientifique and Culturel where, for the price of a coffee or glass of wine, you can come to explore the latest ideas in science and culture. These events are held on Monday nights during term time and act as an important adjunct to our book- and film-based activities.
As much as possible we try and co-ordinate our events with those on the Nottingham Social Activities Group (http://www.meetup.com/nottingham-social/
) with whom we share many members; so why not join both and have a packed social calendar!
