Miss Smilla’s Feeling for Snow, Peter Hoeg

One snowy day in Copenhagen, six-year-old Isaiah falls to his death from a city rooftop. The police pronounce it an accident. But Isaiah's neighbour, Smilla, an expert in the ways of snow and ice, suspects murder. She embarks on a dangerous quest to find the truth, following a path of clues as clear to her as footsteps in the snow.

Really enjoyed my first book club meeting. Everyone welcoming, friendly and relaxed. We had some good debate and interesting chat. Looking forward to next month! :o)

Sorry won't be able to be there tonight feeling unwell. I've read most of the book v good. A lot of refs to Greenlanders being treated as second class citizens compared to Danes. Interesting its a male author but a female protagonist. Kind of reminded me of a cross between the Steig Larson books and Patricia Cornwell. Hope to be there next time with whole book read lol!

Hi folks, I won't be at the meeting tomorrow but I did read the book and thought overall it was great, though it did take me a while to connect with the style of writing. I thought the story was really well developed and a lot of the thoughts and side comments added to the development and mood. I'd give it 9 out of 10 if we were voting.
