Rashid Rana at the New Art Exchange: Arty Psychobabble

Last chance to see Rashid Rana's exhibition at the New Art Exchange

An artist who plays with perception?

Art that looks like one thing but if you look closer is revealed to be something else?

I can feel a bit of psychobabble coming on...

Rashid Rana : Everything is Happening At Once http://www.thenewarte.... "Widely recognised as one of the most important artists of his generation from South Asia, Rana works across multiple media including photography, sculpture and video installation. This exclusive exhibition at New Art Exchange follows Rana’s first major public solo show in the UK at Cornerhouse, Manchester and forms part of the second Asia Triennial. It includes new work which ambitiously cuts across conventional notions of the scale and status of the photographic object, opening up its potential to represent cultural, social and physical realities and relationships. The work’s seductive materiality belies its sharp critical and political consciousness."

...and on my theme of tentatively connecting everything with Jung (yes, that's right: I still haven't written that essay) quite a nice metaphor for the little self within the big self. (I'm SO close to working out what that means :)

It's the last day of the exhibition, so why not come and see the art, sit and chat over a coffee about it, or anything else that comes to mind. Psychobabble optional of course.

Meet in the cafe at 2.00pm, find us in the gallery, or join us for coffee after 3.00pm. The exhibition closes at 4.00pm. If there's enthusiasm we may move on to the pub afterwards to continue babbling.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
