The National Space Centre is holding a special event 'Steampunks in Space'. The website says 'Come along and meet the best makers, creators, artists, authors and traders. A cake and jam competition, tea duelling, a huge market and lots to see and do throughout the day for those of you who are interested in the latest cultural phenomena in the UK'.
You don't have to know a lot about Steampunk to attend this, it's for anyone who is curious.
There's plenty to do at the Space Centre with six interactive galleries, over 150 hands-on challenges, iconic rocket tower, UK’s largest Planetarium, 3D SIM Ride, weather pod and more.
The centre has a Gift shop and Café where we can go for drinks and a chat at some point during the afternoon.
There is a large car park at the site and it is £2.00 to park all day.
Entrance to the Steampunk event is free and to attend this only, you do not need to buy a ticket. If you want to go to the Space Centre as well, you will need a ticket. If you already have an annual pass, this is included. You can purchase tickets online, or on the day at the ticket office and get a free upgrade to an annual pass if you like. There is also an evening of entertainment from 7.00pm to 11.00pm which some people may be interested in (tickets for this evening of entertainment need to be booked in advance online and are £10.00).
To mark the end of Movember there will be a 'Shave down' event to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK and the Institute of Cancer Research. (Please note that the whole 'Steampunks' event is not a fundraising event and is not linked to Movember. It is only the 'Shave Down' which is to raise charitable funds).
The National Space Centre is just off the A6, 2 miles north of Leicester city centre.
