Nottingham Heritage Interest Group is dedicated to bringing members of the public together to explore the amazing, beautiful, valuable, interesting places Nottingham has to offer in its historical and archaeological heritage.

Under this city are more than 500 man-made sandstone caves, a unique feature unparalleled anywhere else in the world. And yet they have largely been forgotten, and many have been destroyed, unbeknownst to the public. We would like to preserve and promote these great attractions, and encourage the public to visit them.

Besides underground Nottingham we are also interested in Nottingham's above ground heritage, such as its buildings, history, intriguing nooks and crannies, great city walks and so on.

Membership is free; all we ask is that you bring your enthusiasm and prepare to be delighted and educated by what secrets Nottingham has to offer.

"I've been persuaded to do a short-ish urban ramble in April for a support group I'm part of, so if that goes ok, I'll put the walk mentioned above (or something similar) up as an event in spring...."
