Games Day is a monthly meetup of board and card games held at a back room of Fade/The Hard to Find Café, a café/bar on Mansfield Road, starting at 3pm and continuing as long as we like.
If you have favourite games please bring them along. There are some games actually kept in the café including chess and Jenga. Games that have been popular include: Jenga, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Cluedo, Risk, Monopoly; but there have been many more less familiar ones we have been introduced to (Dominion, Settlers of Catan, Jungle Speed, Super Cluedo Challenge and more...).
People are also always free just to socialise, eat and drink. If you are a newbie do come along, you are welcome and we want to make you feel at home. Attendance is only semi-regular and we always have new people. We try to make sure everyone who wants to play a game can do so. Games Days are always a lot of fun and eagerly anticipated!
Fade sells alcoholic drinks including some great bottled Belgian and British beers, a range of teas and coffees and some rather good food. They reserve a back room for us for free so it helps to say thank you by buying something! You can order cooked food up to about 6pm (check at the bar to be sure) and hot drinks up to 9pm.
There is a small car park behind the building (access via Chatham St.) in which a few of the spaces belong to Fade (check the signs before you park). There is also plenty of parking space on streets in the area. North Sherwood Street has spaces that are for residents during the week and free on Sundays, but any spaces that you have to pay for during the week you will now also have to pay for on Sundays since Nottingham City Council recently changed their parking charges. Make sure you check the signs on/near any parking meters before you leave your car.
