Tram Stop Pub Adventure with a Band

As it's my birthday a few days after, I fancied putting on a trip out for a few drinks and some live music to Finish. We will meet at the Cross Keys Pub ( NG1 2GJ ) near the Lace Market but I plan to get the tram to stop at a few lesser frequented but excellent pubs in North Nottingham. The tram I am aiming to get is the 19.32 out bound from the Lace market stop almost directly outside the Cross Keys. The final tram back is 23.46 but feel free to leave earlier. The route will have three venues and a final one in the city for a late night stop if we are still going. Get an unlimited tram ticket for £3.50 from the conductor and see some parts of Nottingham you might not be so familiar with.

The Band at the Lion is THE FOG who play "popular rock", or covers as the say down my way. Although I have a timetable I could by accident or incompetence divert from it. I am unlikely to be too far off though so bear with if you plan to meet part way as I will try my best to get back on track.

Planned rundown below. The full addresses of all venues can be found easily on the Net.

The Fox and Crown, NG6  8 to 9pm

The Horse and Groom, NG7  9.15 to 10.00 ( don't confuse this with the one in Arnold )

The Lion in Basford, NG7  10.10 onward

A Late Bar of group choosing at some time post 23.00.

I will add a number on the comments for you to text on the night earlier the same day.

Cheers Steve for organising this. Good choice of pubs, a little walk off the beaten track under the full moon in a decrepit industrial estate, a little dancing, lovely people and a great host, couldn't have asked for more.

Hi. Unfortunately I can only attend last drinks back in Nottingham. The tram idea sounds a great night out. Have a great night out. Perhaps let me know where you end up for last drinks and I will try and be there ! Have a great Night. Mob:[masked]

I'm open minded about our last venue but unless somebody comes up with a frighteningly good idea we will probably end up at my usual the hand and heart on derby round (it's open till 1pm and about 10 mins walk from the royal centre tram stop), assume there if you don't hear other wise.

Just to make doubley sure ( as I have been asked ) the Horse and Groom is the pub next door to the old shipstone brewery ( now an industrial estate ) what was once the breweries on site pub.

    Hi Steve

Thanks so much for organising this, I will go directly to the Horse and Groom, aiming to be a bit fashionably late as you may not all make 9.15, timing looks tight. Will text if there are any problems, please don't feel the need to look out for me.

    October 15, 2013

    • steve w.

Fair enough. The H and G is quite smallish so you should find us easy enough. We will be in main right hand bar. You are prob right about the timings but a will be cracking the whip a bit if we are running too late.

    Hello All,

On the day I will be wearing a blue winter walking type coat and a blue wooly hat. I will let the bar staff know where I am so you can ask them if you like. Text[masked] if in doubt, any questions please ask. The band at the Lion is now listed as THE FOG ( spooky ) and they play popular rock what ever that is. I am sure they will be entertaining enough. If you cannot go in the end please change your RSVP so that I don't have to keep an eye out for you.
