Ceilidh night

I'll be on stage giving instructions & encouraging people to dance. Come along and enjoy a good night of socialising and dancing, with a wee dram or two if you want. Meet up folk usually gather to the left side of the bar before going through to the function room at the back of the pub, settling themselves in and having a go at the dancing.

Dancing starts at 8pm. There is a charge of £4 each to cover the cost of the hall.

Ceilidhs (pronounced "Kay-lay"), are enjoyed by all ages – from youngsters’ first Scottish dancing experience to old-timers out enjoying a burl. People come dressed in jeans, full highland dress – and everything in between. Wear something comfortable to dance in.

You don’t need to know what to do – We’ll be dancing to recorded music. I'll be calling the dances and explain what you need to do as you go along. There are lots of friendly folk to give you a hand and get everyone up dancing.

For more details contact me on 07875718702.

Beeston Rylands is 5 miles south of Nottingham. Having found a road into Beeston follow signs at traffic lights south towards the Railway Station then keep straight on over the road bridge over the railway line. Immediately after the bridge keep going down meadow road and take the 5th turn on the right onto Grenville Road. Then turn left onto Trent road and the Boat and horses is on your left hand side towards the canal end. You will find the car park entrance on your left hand side just before the pub. The ceilidh will be in their function room through the back.

Looking forward to tonight, we have some special guests at half time. information

Stone Monkey Sword Dancers who specialise in the Rapper Sword Dance. Although they do not perform a "traditional" dance from one of the original pit villages, they have taken the spirit and energy of the rapper dance, and put together their own set of figures, many of which are their own invention.

Based in Long Eaton, Stone Monkey Sword Dancers have strong links with the rapper tradition. Several members of the team were born and brought up in the North East and others have spent many years there. Members of the team have danced with other rapper sides, such as Black Cap, Keele, Sallyport and High Spen Blue Diamonds. The distinctive Stone Monkey style has developed from a fusion (don't you just hate that word?) of these many and varied influences.
    They will be very entertaining.
