Nourishing NYC is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) community food program that strives to achieve “nutrition for all”  in New York City.

Our mission is to alleviate the strong correlation between low-income status and poor dietary health. We provide nutritious meals and nutritional educational without question and without criticism. Anyone is welcome regardless of age, sex, race, financial qualifications, or religious beliefs.

Nourishing NYC was opened in 2008 to address poor nutrition and health while addressing the issue of food scarcity and hunger issues facing the poverty-stricken East Harlem community in New York City.

At Nourishing NYC, we strive to achieve the mission of   “Nutrition for All“ through a three-pronged approach of feed, educate and advocate.

Feed- The Urban Produce Program is offering urban in-need residents free fresh produce in NYC food deserts.

Educate- The Junior Chef Program is a culinary arts and agriculture nutritional education program for in-need children.

Advocate- The Environmental Advocacy Program is designed to educate and inspire in-need clients to help to bring about positive eco-change.

We are known throughout the country for our junior chefs classes, environmental advocacy, and produce programs in supermarket deserts. Nourishing NYC’s Junior Chef Program was chosen as the Post Foods National Charity of Choice. In addition, Nourishing NYC won Charity of the Year Award at the Classy Awards in 2010.
