Meetup Update

From: Jim L.
Sent on: Saturday, June 22, 2013 11:00 AM

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. I wanted to share a couple of updates with the group, and follow up on some questions I got at our last meetup.

We have a new co-organizer

Kit Unger, who participated on our Agile UX panel back in September, has graciously offered to help me organize meetups for this group. She and I have been discussing some exciting new ideas for the coming year, including mixing up our meetup locations a bit and trying new formats like interactive workshops. More to come later this summer, but welcome aboard Kit and thanks!

We have t-shirts (for a limited time)

Emily Wilson, a visual designer on my team, created a new logo and identity assets for our group. Those who attended the last meetup saw the new logo rolled out on my slides and the cake celebrating our first year. Several people asked if we might do t-shirts, so I thought I'd give the idea a try using TeeSpring, which crowd-funds custom t-shirts. For the next three weeks you'll be able to order your very own NoVA UX t-shirt, and as soon as we have 50 orders they'll begin printing. Grab yours here:

We have job openings

Check out our job postings and job board; members have been adding opportunities for designers and developers regularly.

As I mentioned at the last event, I have several UX positions open on my team at AddThis, drop me an email at [address removed] or check out the available positions for designers (and developers) at

We have a July meetup coming soon

Tim Mannino from Kettul Design will be talking about designing web applications at our next meetup on July 17. Details and RSVP here:

Looking forward to seeing all of you at an upcoming event!
