Position Background
APT is seeking a highly creative, energetic Principal User Experience Designer with a passion for creating intuitive and enjoyable front-end experiences for our flagship enterprise web application. As a Principal User Experience Designer, you'll be developing APT's UX team and defining what great UX means at APT. You'll lead APT's UX direction in a collaborative, fast-paced agile environment, partnering closely with product management and engineering, developing ideas from product concept to launch. You'll translate abstract business ideas and complex analytics into approachable workflows, visualizations, interactions, and solid design deliverables.

Position Responsibilities

  • Envision a roadmap for an innovative and holistic user experience across APT's software
  • Manage and lead the process of collecting feedback on idea sketches, wireframes, and implementations directly from client teams and other stakeholders
  • Be a champion for users' needs from requirements gathering through implementation
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to create and maintain key UX success metrics and UX Standards
  • Manage and mentor a growing UX team
  • Collaborate with team members (product managers, junior UX designers, and front end developers) through the entire design and development process
  • Translate complex analytic workflows into approachable, informative, and enjoyable experiences for users of a wide variety of skill levels
  • Develop user interaction and interface deliverables, including sketches, wireframes, and visual designs
  • Have a flexible approach to changing priorities in an agile work environment

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience designing for web application user experiences (5-10 years)
  • lExperience building and leading a UX team
  • Strong application of interaction design principles and user experience best practices
  • Clear understanding of usability heuristics
  • Ability to both rapidly sketch out user-flows with pencil and paper/whiteboards as well as quickly develop richer wireframes (in whichever tool you prefer)
  • Demonstrated relationship building and cross-functional leadership
  • Excellent visual, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage, convey, and receive feedback from a wide variety of stakeholders with both passion and diplomacy
  • Ability to juggle many projects at once while working in an innovative, fast-paced work environment
