The Appian platform enables app designers to build complex applications that can be accessed via the web or natively on a variety of mobile platforms. As a User Experience Designer at Appian, your mission is to create user interaction models that will be familiar to end users regardless of the platform they use. Whether designing interface components for app designers, or the interface app designers use to create apps, your conceptual design, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design skills will be challenged every day.
You must have the ability to successfully collaborate with other designers, product managers, and engineers to develop the intuitive, user-friendly products that define the Appian brand.
The ideal candidate for this position possesses a solid understanding of user-centered design principles, absolute comfort working with HTML and CSS, excellent visual design skills, great technical know-how, and proven expertise in designing for web and mobile platforms.
Help define the user model and user interface for new and existing Appian products and features
Develop high level and/or detailed storyboards, mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
Gauge the usability of new and existing features, and make constructive suggestions for change
BS in Human-Computer Interaction or related field
5 years of relevant work experience, including experience with new feature conceptualization as well as shipping of enhancements to existing features
Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills
Strong, clean visual design sense
Expertise with Balsamiq, HTML and CSS
Ability to create real user interface views (with no business logic) on one of the following platforms: Google Web Toolkit (GWT), Android, or iOS.
