The Ride:

• Arrive @ 6:30pm.

• Be ready to roll @ 6:45pm.

• You must have a bike computer (odometer).

Looking for a mid-week workout?  This is a mostly flat ride from Jones Point to Fort Hunt starting on the Mt. Vernon trail.  This is the route we call "Al's Route" so we will be crossing over at Tulane, and onto the neighboring streets paralleling the GW Parkway on our way to Fort Hunt Park.  Of course those of you familiar with this route will know we have the hill known as "The PUNISHER" as soon as we enter the neighborhood.  Once we get to Fort Hunt we will do laps (or you can rest) for a bit before heading back the way we came.

This is NOT a beginner ride.. this is a SOLID MEDIUM level ride.  The goal of this ride is to ride it at our Medium Level pace (not an average, but a pace of) up to and including 15mph.

Do you think you're ready and want to try a MEDIUM level ride?  This will be a good ride for that but be prepared to push yourself ... you will not be left behind but are expected to really try to keep pace.  The goal is to do this ride better and faster each time we do it.

The Fine Print:

An RSVP of 'YES' is your digital signature and means you have read and understood MEETUP.com's "Terms of Service : Section 6.2 " found HERE (http://www.meetup.com/terms/) and NOVA-CBG's "Assumption of Risk Agreement" found HERE (http://files.meetup.com/1557670/NOVA-CBG_WAIVER.pdf).

Remember that helmets are required to participate in all NOVA-CBG rides. NO Helmet, NO ride, NO exceptions. All riders ride at their own risk and with the understanding that cycling is an inherently dangerous activity. When coming to the meetup you do so voluntarily and are ready and able to participate in the ride as described under the conditions of the day.

Be on time for the "pre-ride" preparation. This is when we check to make sure you have all the required equipment and the last chance for you to make sure your bike is ready for the ride. We will also talk through the route for the day and review basic safety instruction for group riding as well as other important topics. If you do not attend the pre-ride preparation, you will not be allowed to participate on the ride, so please be on time as there will be NO exceptions. Please also keep in mind the group's cancellation policy when you RSVP.

Great ride. Tough as it was my first medium ride, but pushed myself and made it! Looking forward to working up my speed and getting stronger! Thank you to all who gave me encouragement and the wonderful sweep in the back :-)

Thanks to all that came out. It was great to see so many regulars come back to the ride, and a bunch of new folks also. Congratulations to those that finished the ride for the first time, and for those that cracked the 14.0mph average threshold for the first time. See ya next time.

Sorry everyone - will have to pass on this ride and maybe others as this weather today is asthma threatening. Can't take the risk.. It looked like it was cooling down earlier today and was hopeful.

I going to have to bail as I've decided to do the Team Sticky Fingers fundraiser/"Half the Road" movie screening at the Cinema and Drafthouse instead. Have fun.

Got on Tuesday Jones Point ride. If that goes (some afternoon rain predicted), I'll take name off of wait list for this one if others are waiting. Don't want to be Jones Point greedy.
