CANCELLED : Medium Level : Tuesday After Work Ride - Jones Point to Fort Hunt

  • Jun 10, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

I can't do this week's Thursday night ride, so I have to change it to Tuesday night.  Same ride, just a different night.  Note the later starting time.

The Ride:

• Arrive @ 6:30pm.

• Be ready to roll @ 6:45pm.

• You must have a bike computer (odometer).

• You must have a cue sheet holder (clips are fine)

Looking for a mid-week workout?  This is a mostly flat ride from Jones Point to Fort Hunt starting on the Mt. Vernon trail.  This is the route we call "Al's Route" so we will be crossing over at Tulane, and onto the neighboring streets paralleling the GW Parkway on our way to Fort Hunt Park.  Of course those of you familiar with this route will know we have the hill known as "The PUNISHER" as soon as we enter the neighborhood.  Once we get to Fort Hunt we will do laps (or you can rest) for a bit before heading back the way we came.

This is NOT a beginner ride.. this is a SOLID MEDIUM level ride.  The goal of this ride is to ride it at our Medium Level pace (not an average, but a pace of) up to and including 15mph.

Do you think you're ready and want to try a MEDIUM level ride?  This will be a good ride for that but be prepared to push yourself ... you will not be left behind but are expected to really try to keep pace as I will be doing 15mph the entire route (try to keep up and catch me).  The goal is to do this ride better and faster each time we do it.

We will zero out our odometers when we leave... we will check our avg pace when we get to Fort Hunt... and then check them when we return to Jones Point.

The Meeting Spot:

Beginner Level : If you can easily ride your bike for 10 miles (distance) with some minor hills at a comfortable pace (10+ to 12+ mph).

Medium Level : If you can do 20 miles pretty easily at a moderate pace (13 to 15+ mph).

The Fine Print:

An RSVP of 'YES' is your digital signature and means you have read and understood's "Terms of Service : Section 6.2 " found HERE ( and NOVA-CBG's "Assumption of Risk Agreement" found HERE (

Remember that helmets are required to participate in all NOVA-CBG rides. NO Helmet, NO ride, NO exceptions. All riders ride at their own risk and with the understanding that cycling is an inherently dangerous activity. When coming to the meetup you do so voluntarily and are ready and able to participate in the ride as described under the conditions of the day.

Be on time for the "pre-ride" preparation. This is when we check to make sure you have all the required equipment and the last chance for you to make sure your bike is ready for the ride. We will also talk through the route for the day and review basic safety instruction for group riding as well as other important topics. If you do not attend the pre-ride preparation, you will not be allowed to participate on the ride, so please be on time as there will be NO exceptions. Please also keep in mind the group's cancellation policy when you RSVP.
