I'm the leader/facilitator of the CHADD Support Group for Teens with ADHD as well as a coach & consultant for underachieving teens.
Adult with ADHD; Spouse of ADHD; parent of kid with ADD, and a former Special Educ. teacher for the Gifted & Talented.
This discussion/support group is open to all middle and high school students with ADD, ADHD, or Executive Function issues, and it's FREE! I very much enjoyed the discussion with the teens that attended the June 1st meeting--both of them! Disappointed that several others who RSVPed did NOT show up. Discussion would have been so much better with at least two or three others students. Yes, there WILL BE a July 6th meeting (hopefully, in a screen house close to nature!) and an August 3rd meeting, with cool summer refreshments, so PLEASE email coach@BrainRelief.org or call 703-641-8940 to confirm that you (or your teen) is coming. *NOTE: The July & August meeting is for students who WILL BE in Middle or High School in September, 2014.
Hi Anne, I'm definitely the classic inattentive type. Like you, I was diagnosed rather late, at 42. Of course, if one has an affinity with Douglas Adams, we can view that age as an auspicious one. Perhaps it can be the answer to my universe! I have seen the ADD meetups and am on the email list, but have yet to make it to one.
Meetup tells me you've been trying to contact me. I didn't see any messages from you. They must have gone into my spam folder. What's up?
Hi Anne and welcome to the ADD/ADHD Coaching & Support Group by ClearView! I'm honored to have you as part of our group. Sorry I was delayed in responding and didn't see your message about meeting today, until now. My bad! I do hope to see you at the Open House on Friday. Can't wait for us to exchange more great things about ADHD!
I'm going to attend September 10 meeting. In a lot of pain at the moment. Loosing my marriage of 25 years. I had done a LOT of work (since the age of 16) before being diagnosed in 2000. When I got to ADD, I felt validated, and ready to be fixed. I was so tired of self revelation, and the coaching was expensive, the organization felt like a prison. But because I only did the meds, and not the other work, I burned out my marriage. I have much regret. And fear for the future.
Joined about an hour ago. Just like Seton, I received an automatic confirmation email about meeting in a different location with dates from 2009. I plan on being at the September meeting, which I assume will be on the Monday following Labor Day. Looking forward to it!
been reading books and online forums about ADD, some of what others describe doesnot fit me, it seems others have much worse problems. not sure if I have mild ADD or if I overcompensate, or if it's really ADD or something else. but need to explore.
I am not able to make the meeting tonight but am interested in future meetings. FYI, the automatic email that I received when I signed up referenced a different location made note of July and August 2009 meetings. Hope to see you next month!
Hi Anne, you and Skip, are the best!!!! I've sort of become a 'fixture' at the meetings. I forget, but I think I've been a member of the meeting group since last July. Like Tom and Jim and several of the others, I always attend scheduled meetings. My personal email is: [masked]. Thanks very much for making sure I'm on all your notification lists.
Thanks for your email.I will be at the Adhd meeting this Wednesday July 8th.Do you think that you can meet me outside the library?Take Care.I am looking forward to meeting you.
