If you don't know anything about Ket Doan Association, here's the perfect chance to know what they're all about. Here's a little intro: Ket Doan is a non-profit charity organization that been around for the past 10 years. Their name in English means "Vietnamese American United". They specialize in holding events to raise money to support the less fortunate in America and Vietnam. All members of the group are young professionals and no one is getting paid. The group consist of 20 staff members and 500+ members from across the US and Vietnam. All the staff members are volunteers and we give our own time to keep this group alive.
As a final note, the members of Ket Doan are mainly Vietnamese and they prefer to speak Vietnamese to preserve their culture but it does not mean they won't speak English. All the members are fluent in English and they will speak it if there's someone around to speak it with. So come and introduce yourself and have a good time.
Here's a video of last years 2012 picnic at the same location.
Welcome! This group is for anyone interested in exploring Vietnamese culture and making new friends. While many of our events will have a focus on Vietnamese culture, we will also explore other Asian cultures and have a variety of social and volunteer activities within the Vietnamese community. The main components of this group are:
1. Cultural Exploration 2. Social/Fun events 3. Event Volunteering 4. Community Service
Please see the "About" tab at the top of this page for more information.
Also, please note that a knowledge of Vietnamese is not necessary for our community service or volunteer events. However, if you are bilingual, this does increase your options for participation.
Our sister group is the Baltimore Vietnamese Culture Meetup group. Our two meetups will co-host events on a regular basis. Their website is: http://www.meetup.com/bmoreviet/
