February Meeting: Audit My Joomla! by Phil Taylor

Phil Taylor, a noted PHP developer, has built a tool that will audit your whole Joomla! site securely in moments, identify hacked files and suspect content in files, locate and revert modified Joomla! files, and identify and fix issues you may not have realized you had.

Bring your other questions and topics for discussion. We will post connection information for those unable to attend in person.

See you in person at the Kings Park Library small conference room, or call in:

1. Please join my meeting, Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 7:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.

I would like to thank Phil Taylor, too, especially considering that he made his presentation in the wee hours of the morning (shortly after midnight, British time). An excellent presentation and meeting.

Well, there is a process that evaluates the security porture of a system and reports on its findings But without changing anything. That's what I call audit. Vulnerability assessment looks at what's weak in a system but leaves up to the human adminstrator to fix the findings... Then there is another process that checks that no intrusions have occurred and reports and alerts the admins and are file or system integrity monitors (like Tripwire). So if if your scripts check the status and integrity of the system but has self-healing capabilities, then we are talking about a kickass idea!

Hi Adrian. Quite simply it blows it out of the water in most respects, We dont SCAN your website at all - we audit from the inside, a specific audit check for each subject we want to check, looking for VERY SPECIFIC Joomla based security, hacks and best practice - plus, because I have been around Joomla since the start of the Mambo development (as a core developer) not many others have the same experience as I do with Joomla. I stand fully behind my products.
