Jan 29: Getting Started with Chef by Nathen Harvey

Title: Getting Started with Chef - Deploy a Rails App by Nathen Harvey

News: Opscode just scheduled another Chef class on Feb 27th (the last one sold out), use the code MEETUP to save yourself 10%: CLICK HERE

Description: You've heard of Chef, Puppet, and other frameworks that can help you build out your infrastructure.  You've been meaning to play around with one or more of them for some time now.  Now's your chance; Start cooking up on your own servers! In this presentation, I'll provide an introduction to Chef with a focus on what you'll need to know to get a Rails application up and running.

Speaker: Nathen Harvey is a Technical Community Manager at Opscode, the company behind Chef. Nathen is the co-organizer of the Washington DC MongoDB Users' Group and DevOps DC and co-host of the Food Fight Show, a podcast about Chef and DevOps.  Like many others who blog, Nathen updates his blog on a very irregular basis.  Nathen was recently named the winner in the DevOps category of Engine Yard's Innovators Awards.  When not working or hosting meetups, Nathen enjoys going to concerts, drinking craft beer, and over sharing on sites like twitter, untappd, and foursquare.

Food: We will have food and drinks provided by Near Infinity Corporation.

Great presenter -- fast but *clear*, well organized, each slide either helpful or at least amusing

Excellent chef intro. Wish it went a few more hours--think it's time to sign up for one of his classes.
