About the book:

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway -- a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love -- a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead. Written in rich, seductive prose, this spell-casting novel is a feast for the senses and the heart.

Nourishment

We always go to a restaurant to dine after the discussion so plan to join us for this.

This is a popular group that usually has a waiting list. If you RSVP that you’re coming to the month’s book discussion, please do come (and read the book). If a member R.S.V.P.s, "yes" and doesn't show up without explanation, that member will be removed from the group.

I need to change my RSVP to NO, sadly. My husband has bacterial pneumonia and is contagious until he's fever-free...which means no babysitter. Have a great time!

This was going to be my first time attending but my 7 week old daughter isn't quite ready for me to be away for multiple hours.
I hope I can meet you all next month. :)

Enjoyed the book! I have a lot of deadlines at work before I travel and don't believe I would make it on time tomorrow. Enjoyed the book and hope you enjoy Blueridge Brewery! :) Looking forward to next month's book. (I think I nominated it!)

Can't make this one due to a conflict...but I LOVE this book! Found myself readling it slow to savor every visualization. Was sad when I got to the last page...haven't enjoyed a book that thoroughly in years.

Haven't read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern yet, but I am a well-ranked reviewer at Amazon. I do read a lot and do not own a TV-set. LOL

I'm unable to attend Tuesday but am so excited to join a book club. I'm a book club newbie! Looking forward to hearing what the next book is and the next meeting. Do you have one in December? ( just wondering considering the holidays). Thanks.

I think we are going to try the main branch of the Greenville Library. I'll update the information once we have everything finalized. Thanks for all the great suggestions. We will see how this works out.

We have meet at Barnes and Noble on Haywood before and they put us in the back and there really wasn't enough room there and it was always very crowded in the cafe. I think having it a restaurant is not really conductive to discussing the book. With all the background noise it can be hard to hear others and with ordering and waiters coming by it can be distracting. Keep the suggestions coming :).

All of the libraries have free meeting space, although I'm not sure what the protocol is for outside food and drink. I second Coffee Underground. It hasn't been too loud any time that I've gone. Port City Java downtown is small but may be accommodating for a larger group. Their section in the back would be cozy and might be big enough. Maybe one of the Starbucks would work as well? Hope that helps a little! :)

Oh! One more... Spill the Beans at Falls Park might work as well.

Not really surprised about the bookstore - it seemed like it was dying...
That said, if we pick a regular restaurant where they can count on us for monthly meetings, we might be able to find a place that will accommodate us.
Another idea, from a book club I participated in when I lived in Florida, is to rotate hosting it in members' homes...

I received an email last night that Books A Million in Greenville will be closing soon so I will work on getting another location for this meetup. If you have an idea of a place to meet, please let me know. Thanks.

That makes me a little sad! What about Barnes and Noble for a new spot?

The group used to meet there, but it was hard to get enough space. The store at the time didn't really work with us.

We can have the discussion at the restaraunt. If you want to meet at a bookstore;there is a Barnes and Noble across the street from Haywood mall.
We can meet in the cafe.

I can't wait for November! I'm an avid reader but I haven't ever been a part of a book club. This book has been on my to-read list for quite some time, so I'm excited to dive into it. I look forward to meeting you all next month!

I love this book! I am saying YES for now, but my monthly advising sessions are usually the third Tuesday of the month. The Nov session has not been scheduled yet, so I will change my RSVP if it ends up on the 19th. Hope I can make it! I have been missing book club!
