Announcing a new Meetup for NOWHERE YOU ARE!

What: Dead/Dylan Night @ Borders Books in Boulder! September 18th! Please come on down

When: Saturday, September 18,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Borders Books
[masked]th St
Boulder, CO 80301

Hey now Hipsters, Beats, poets, musicians, Merry Pranksters, and psychedelic cosmonaughts and so forth! Some say the Dead community that helped put Boulder on the map are a thing of the past...are you gonna let that be true?

Did you know about Boulder's relevance in counterculture history? We had and have some of the most interesting and controversial characters of the Beats, alternative music scene, and spiritual and psychedelic movement leaders from counter cultural history that embraced Boulder Colorado as a mecca of progressive people. A place to stop and "patch your bones" the place" to ready oneself heading towards the gates of the east or west coast.

In Grateful Dead and Rainbow family circles Boulder was known as a place to come and feel welcomed as one was heading to the next GD show or Rainbow gathering on the coasts. For the new generation of Jam band hipsters and neo hipsters it is still known and spken about with warm feelings.
Yes, poor old Boulder's landscape has changed (strip malls and such) but it doesn't mean the community that put this place on the map is long gone and forgotten.

We have had hipsters like Ginsberg, Burroughs, Leary, Ram Dass, Ken Kesey, Jon Cale, Robert Duncan, Gregory Corso, Meredith Monk, Diane di Prima, and Michael McLure. Boulderites also helped found and establish one of the first Buddhist (Tibetan) teachers that brought in Buddhism to the west-Who founded Boulder's good old Naropa U that is alive and thriving still!

In times of a horrible economy, war, strife, etc. people should gather and share the human experience. Today in a world full of instant gratification, strip malls, and where community is thought to be a chat room. Isn't it time to come on out and at LEAST make some new friends! Meet UP is for MEETING, right?! Why else would you join?

Sure we have busy lives, but rather then be a zombie in front of the television or bask in the dim glow of a computer screen, why not come on out and at they very least enjoy some great americana music from the great poetic music stoytellers of the sixties renaissance ! Mr. Robert Zimmerman (Bobbie Dylan) with his many musical masks and Jerry Garcia in his many musical formations (JGB, Old and in the Way, Grateful Dead, and many other incarnations!).

Yours truly, will be DJing the night and playing new, rare, and classic material from both artists-plus some video hopefully too!. Come chill out with me upstairs at the coffee house (that we turn into a mellow lounge like atmosphere) and grab a book from our historical countercultural book table featuring writers, poets, history, photography from the folk-rock psychedelic past and present art movement.

Make some new friends, socialize or just come to enjoy a cup of jove with great music that is Americana storytelling in itself! Plus its FREE! Book and coffee specials and discounts! Perhaps we can all grab a brew afterwards too! If you cannot come-please pass this info on and get the word out. We will be making this a monthly gig.

ALSO- if you have any leads of other places where we can hold similar musical appreciation nights or a Grateful Dead night please contact Mr. Jones!

Hope to see you there! Ya dig?
Sincerely, Mr. Jones
