Looking for Contract Work? Email [masked] for details.

This month Alexis Gallagher will be presenting his talk "Working as a Team". This talk tells the story of one feature in an app, describing all the things behind a feature besides how it is built. You will learn how to work well with other developers, designers, clients, and even managers. The talk will also cover,UI design vs UX design, handling conflict, and the challenges of working remotely.

Alexis Gallagher has been working with math and computers for over a decade—in finance (adding risk analytics to the risk engine for Deutsche Bank's FX options trading system), in research science (big data bioinformatics at Oxford), and in mobile (leading development on high-polish presentation apps at McKinsey & Co). He loves iOS because it combines computing and design, and it's a kind of computing that you can see and touch. You can find him on twitter at @alexisgallagher.

Every month, we meet for some tech talks and free beer. iOS developers can present their newest project/library and then we'll have an hour of networking and drinks. Topics will stay specific to Objective-C and iOS. Open-source projects are highly encouraged, please reach out to Steve Derico if you are interested in speaking.

Please do your best to arrive before 7pm, we will start the talk at 7:05pm. The door will lock at 7pm because of building rules. We cannot hold the door open for everyone once the talk has started.

Thought the discussion was going to be about iOS developers co-contributing to a project, but it was about a small project team of 3 folks all of different diciplines. Interesting enough though.

Sounded like a cool talk to me -- I was sorry to miss it!

Yes, definitely score that as a positive. Regardless of the mismatch in my expectation the material was very informative, as always. Definite takeaways regarding communication of project goals, and establishing team communication channels.

Good talk! My take away I was that, as with many things in life, it always good to step out of our box, in this case the team building one feature, and look at it from the outside. The question around "who's the product owner" was particularly interesting to me since it's not always clear in many projects, at least in many of the ones I contribute to.

    Thanks Alexis and Steve!
