Jeff Wear - Repo Madness: Taming the Teenage Open Source Repository

Looking for Contract Work? Email [masked] for details.

This month Jeff Wear from Inkling will be presenting his talk "Repo Madness: Taming the Teenage Open Source Repository". Everyone knows the kinds of things a newborn repo needs to flourish in today's open-source landscape--things like a LICENSE, README, and of course Cocoapods support. But what kind of care does a repo need as it gains users--and tech debt? In this talk, Jeff will discuss tools and techniques for keeping users happy and maintainers sane as projects grow, using his project Subliminal as an example.

Jeff uses good code and good coffee to build a great user experience. A graduate from the Master's in Computer Science program at Stanford University with a focus in HCI, he works as an iOS Engineer at Inkling. He's also the author and maintainer of Subliminal, an iOS integration testing framework that provides a familiar XCTest-like interface to UIAutomation, with tests written entirely in Objective-C.

Interested in Speaking or Hosting NSMeetup?

Please reach out to Steve Derico if you are interested. We are looking for hosts for upcoming events with seating for at least 100 people, in the San Francisco city limits. Every month, we meet for some tech talks and free beer. iOS developers can present their newest project/library and then we'll have an hour of networking and drinks. Topics will stay specific to Objective-C and iOS. Open-source projects are highly encouraged.

We cannot hold the door open for everyone once the talk has started. You must be RSVP'd to enter the event.

Thank you all for coming last night! My slides are here http://cl.ly/1a2P1r3b270e and the full presentation, with speaker notes, is here http://cl.ly/text/012M1Z0X440j. That's a Deckset presentation--you can view the content in any text editor (stuff prefixed with "^" are my notes) or, for best effect, using http://www.decksetapp.com. I used the Zurich Gray theme.

Fixed presentation link: http://cl.ly/text/040... It looks like CloudApp will kinda render it online too though you should look at the slide link or download the presentation and use Deckset for full effect.

Thanks Jeff. Great talk. Inspired me to set up Travis on some of our projects and rework our README.
