New Humanists Sunday Open House

New Humanists Sunday Open House is a gathering for those new to Humanism, seeking to renew Humanism, having new perspectives on Humanism, or making new friendships in a Humanist community. And of course, those more longstanding in a Humanist community are also a vital part of the process.

The Sunday Open House will continue in 2013, probably on the 4th Sunday of the month. It's a wonderful thing for a Meetup to have its own home so come along and celebrate the opportunity.

At these gatherings there'll be conversation and campaigning, partying and philosophising, views and visions. Because the 2nd December Meetup will wrap up the year 2012 it'll be especially festive and I'd welcome it if members bring along some festive food and drink themselves to share.

We'll have some entertaining youtube downloads as selected by members, discuss the true meaning of the pagan festival known as Christmas, and talk about plans for next year.

But we'll also have some serious moments with a Guest Speaker, Steve Maxwell who will present his recently researched history of the Rationalist Society of Australia. This will be at 4.30p.m.
(Steve will be busy till then, as he is a regular on Sundays down at Hyde Park Speaker's Corner). It'll be great to hear from Steve about the lives of secular, rational and activist predecessors in the 20th century.

The Sunday Open House events are designed to appeal to all kinds of non-believers looking for an alternative to pub venues in an atmosphere that allows time and space for good conversation on interesting topics.

Disappointed that people who said they'd come didn't show, but the small crew that were there had a pleasant afternoon - on now to 2013!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
