It started out just looking for exchange of ideas on best way forward (activism?) for various kinds of unbelievers, but as things go on I find I need more than ever the friendship, chocolate, and laughter.
Humanism is for me Atheism plus active concern that human needs (definitely not to be confused with human greeds) are prioritised in human affairs. Then it's a recognition that there is no higher power (other than perhaps reality itself) governing the world, and humans have only their own human resources to deal with whatever happens. Finally it accepts that human culture, ingenuity, knowledge, skills, work, goodwill and motivation are all humans have to 'deal with whatever happens' so we need to value and develop these to the best quality we can.
I want to bridge Humanists & Atheists, and escape the limiting phrase "atheism is just lack of belief in god", to build a community willing to share wider ideas, activities and fun.
Experienced people with valuable opinions to share!
