May 2014 NY Enterprise Technology Meetup

Join fellow technologists, entrepreneurs, and investors for the NY Enterprise Technology Meetup's (NYETM) May meetup on Wednesday 5/14/14 from 6:45pm-9:00pm!

For our May meetup we have some exciting companies demoing their technologies, including:

CrowdProcess - CrowdProcess is a startup which has developed a technology to create compute grids using companies’ existing devices within the firewall. They are currently bringing this technology from the research and scientific computing community into finance, particularly for applications such as intra-day VAR and Option pricing.

• Nodejitsu - Nodejitsu is a provider of cloud services specializing in Node.js and providing both PaaS and private npm. Their solutions expedite customers' time to market by making managing their applications and their code easier. A community-focused company, they've been instrumental in making Node.js the fast growing platform it is today.

• Bitglass As enterprises adopt SaaS applications and users go mobile, IT is faced with securing corporate data that resides on third-party servers and travels over third-party networks to mobile devices. Conventional security technologies are not suited to the task as they were developed to secure the corporate network perimeter. Enter Bitglass.  Bitglass enables your business to move ahead with mobile and cloud securely, while respecting employee privacy.  Bitglass was founded in 2013 by a team of industry veterans with a proven track record of innovation and execution.

VerbalizeIt - With thousand of translators and interpreters globally, VerbalizeIt provides comprehensive language and technology solutions to help companies and individuals embrace the global economy. Supported by four-layers of quality assurance and partnerships with Skype, American Airlines, Desk.com and Rosetta Stone, VerbalizeIt enables businesses and consumers to access a global network of professional human language translators.  By offering live interpretation, website and mobile localization document translation, and recorded voice transcription through its cloud-based platform, VerbalizeIt empowers companies to seize international business opportunities and deepen their engagement with an increasingly diverse customer base.

Jeff, Thanks for inviting fellow NYETM members to this nyspin.org event, and helping make it so successful. Your enthusiasm for the discussion and sharing your experiences with the rest of the panel really made this event. NYSPIN.org will resume monthly speaker events in September, and we welcome proposals from you and other NYETM members.

I thought it was great - good folks, good discussions. It would be interesting to do a series of presentations on failures - deep-dives on what went wrong, or even if the company succeeded, why the first product failed, etc.

very well chosen diversity of presentations, perfect timing, i.e. a rather "hard" stop at 08:30 pm to permit some 30-40 mins. highest quality networking and business update time (and wine, beer and large pizza "helped", too)
