Unfiltered: Rolling your own web toolkit

New York Scala enthusiast and recovering Ruby junkie
Doug Tangren will present
Unfiltered, a Scala interface to the Java Servlet API that allows you to write web apps and services in one line of code--or more! Unfiltered came to life over a series of the Found Weekends hacking sessions of the
Socially Functional (and sometimes Functionally Alcoholic) Meetup group. While writing a Google App Engine site we wanted a library for constructing plain servlet filters in pretty functional Scala and there didn't seem to be anything like that, so we made one. It turns out this is broadly useful, as you'll see in the talk. Doug is soon leaving us for San Francisco, so we've squeezed his talk into our summer schedule. At least we
have summer here, instead of a season where cold damp air is imperceptibly warmer, etc.
