Be Thankful for Short Scala Talks

It's getting cold, sort of, and everyone is reviewing their finances to see how many MacBooks Air they can afford to give (themselves) this year. But what would a holiday season be without sharing stories by the fire? It would be terrible! So we're having a special meetup exclusively composed of five-minute talks. Yes, speakers will really be limited to five minutes: we're using
Hack and Tell's patented "kill them with kindness"
lightning talk timer. It's better this way.

I just realized that the goodies in scala.util.Exception (introduced by @jorgeortiz85) could be easily used to simulate groovy's Elvis operator (somebody asked about it)

I wish I new more about Scala syntax before coming in. This is not for newbies or people with interested working/evaluating Scala.

Overall it was nice, but 5 minutes is nothing or, probably, reporters were not ready for it (not all, but most of them)

Interesting talks. Unfortunately very little said in the allocated 5 minute post talk discussion times.

It was a good exchange of ideas, we can work a little bit in the format but it was goooood.

The talks are lined up, at least 6 on a variety of topics.
