Hello Fellow NYTM Members,

We have 11 members who heroically stepped up to declare their candidacy for new NYTM Organizer! See them here http://www.meetup.com...

Next Tues Dec 9 we'll hear each of them introduce themselves and lay out their ideas and plans -- in NYTM-style they'll each get 5 minutes. We'll post video for all members to see and vote on Dec 11.

To hear the candidates live on Tues at IAC, the 400 RSVP slots just opened at http://meetup.com/ny-... -- it's the regular $10 fee (some of it funds for the our new Organizer to get going!)

Please remember to print out your receipt to bring with you.

Remember: if you do not get an RSVP slot for Tues Dec 9 you'll still get to see all the candidates on video and cast your online vote on Dec 11.

As always, SPECIAL THANKS to the VC firm of DFJ Gotham, the law firm of Wilson Sonsini and IAC for their continued support of our NY Tech Meetup!

And EXTRA SPECIAL THANKS to our courageous candidates!

Let me be the first to congratulate Nate, who is clearly going to win, barring some scandalous revelation about his causing the financial crisis or something. :) I regret that the candidates who will not win the election did not meet the expectations of Vicki, Stephanie, & surely others. I hope all of the candidates can earn your trust and respect in the future. Congrats to Nate, and I look forward to working with Nate, all those who ran, and anyone else excited about the future of NYTM.

I agree that the candidates were not all up to par. I actually went home regretting that I did not offer myself up for the challenge due to the fact that I have more event planning, marketing, public relations, personality than all the candidates put together. I think that some of the candidates are self serving and only looking to promote themselves and their own businesses and have no clue as to that committment it will take. There were 2 standouts so I am assuming that one of them will win.

Five minutes is a tough timeline to present oneself and ideas about where to take the NYTM. I thought three of the presenters did well, with two doing very well. The others caused me to check my mail and twitter feed repeatedly.
