Was a great opportunity to present ProCompare.com in front of 700 vibrant New Yorkers.

I had to leave early, but liked what I saw.

Better location - more people -- networking suboptimal. Mix of presenters was terrific -- like the addition of the prof. -- think showcasing one big concept adds value

    # 700.... looks like I got in just under the wire!

Who attended?

  • 664 attendees
    •  I thought it was good in terms of presenters. I'd like to see opportunities to have biz dev tables outside the meeting hall at the next one, so if there are companies that are seeking to do business, it's easier to find them. Another idea could be to maybe have some kind of Twitter registry, so people who are coming to the event can post their Twitter address and be found more easily at the event. Hated the fact that I couldn't get an ATT Wireless signal. That alone should facilitate moving the event to a location where there is A. Free Wireless and B. you can Twitter and post to Facebook, Brightkite and the like during the event. Hard to cover as a blogger with no Internet access.
    •  The speakers were great, the announcements were good, the bar was pretty bad (too trashy, loud, etc). But besides that I thought it was a great event! Thanks.
    •  Loved the last talk. Like that announcements are back. Overall interesting presentations. Little more light in Q&A part, maybe even during presentations, would be good.
    •  My first time. Excellent Presentations. Great moderating skills on the part of Nate.
    •  My first meetup. Really great lineup. Was well organized and timeslots were strict. Presentations were interesting. The space was huge but packed. Best of luck to each of the projects.
    •  All the talks and presenters did excellent jobs and I look forward to attending future events.
    •  Was great to see some demos outside the usual social media topic. Felt like it ran a little long. Save the best for last (drop.io in tonight's case).
    •  I like that there was a vote for some of the speakers, but I'd prefer that some speakers are still handpicked by Nate going foreward. Maybe a 75% (nate) 25% (democracy) split.
    •  Wifi? bad cell signal
    •  Good meetup! I enjoyed the NYU professor who spoke at the end, but I don't feel the announcements added that much. I also like being able to vote on who gets to present. The bar where we went afterward wasn't very good, and many groups split off and went elsewhere. It would be better to find a place where everyone would go and stay. I think I like it more than IAC - it was easier to see both the screens and presenters during the presentations.
    •  Great lineup
    •  Drop.io and the professor was extremely cool.
    •  I liked what was shown - some cool stuff. I would like to see some rotation in the themes of the presentations - the ones I've attended are very developer-centric. What Tech marketing stories or tools are there, for example?
    •  Loved TigerBow - worried for their future unless patents are in place.
    •  Was a great opportunity to present ProCompare.com in front of 700 vibrant New Yorkers.
    •  First time at the meetup and had a good time. Will be back for sure.
    •  Would like to have heard more questions from the audience. Perhaps have one less demo and give more time for Q&A. Presentation stayed mostly on time and on track.
    •  presenters need to think more ablut large fonts on their demos - hard to see screen from back of FIT
    •  Pretty good meeting. FIT site is excellent. Looking forward to the next meeting.
    •  Good crowd and some really good presents
    •  The venue was nice, but not having internet access really sucks
    •  Loved Drop.io and panos's presentation. I think the announcements are a good idea. Anything that helps facilitate community and group participation, I say go for it.
    •  The range of application type and presentation was great. Wifi access seemed to be an issue though.
    •  Companies followed bell curve ... btw very intriguing, ok and "what were they thinking" concepts. All in all, time well spent. Would like to see better organization ... too many announcements interspersed throughout ... have them all at the beginning or at the end or send a email as follow up.
    •  Excellent space; great mix of presenters. Nate is doing an awesome job... great personality and had things well under control. I liked that he added a few bits of info between each presenter. I suggest scattering Announcements the same way. It breaks the evening up and doesn't overload. Great job!
    •  It was my first NY Tech meetup, and I thought it was great. Really interesting companies and products. Looking forward to the next one.
    •  For me, drop.io, foursqaure, and enjoysthin.gs were the highlights. Q&As could be better moderated.
    •  had a hard time seeing the screen from about the 7th row from the back. blurry. no overflow space for people to mingle after the event didnt bring good dance shoes for the disco after the meetup.
    •  Enjoyed the presentations. This was my first; impressed with how well Nate kept speakers on time.
    •  Superb companies selected to present. Impressive attendance. Facilities for networking afterward were adequate but could be better. Still, I am sure that venue options will be limited given the size of the group and the cost of renting space.
    •  Someone mentions 10% and think maybe sitting for 800 is in order. This is the first time I was able to get in. I like it very much.
    •  Had a great time and I especially like the economing presentation.
    •  interesting presentations, will go next month!
    •  All the presented techs are so so..
    •  It was good meeting with a nice variety of presentations. Thanks for pulling it all together.
    •  first time presenting it. was. awesome.
    •  I was disappointed that the practice of breaking for a small networking session was abandoned for this Meetup. That is easily one of the most fruitful portions of the previous meetups.
    • Guy
Good meeting; liked the fast pace approach.
    • Ash
Some interesting presentations, but nothing that was truly revolutionary.
    •  The only aspects that detracted from my experience were some bad audio levels where some people were too loud or too soft (someone should be on the soundboard fixing that in realtime) and some of the text being typed on the projector was too small to easily read from the back.
    •  Too many people, too crowded!
    •  well organized and good time management.
    • Uel
my first meetup, it was great. the presentations - the meet and greet with presenters after, and looking forward to the next one.
    •  Great facility. Bigger screen would be nice. Better logistics would be nice -- some presenters had trouble getting laptops switched to projector.
    •  Interesting companies well presented. Good pacing for the meeting. Big Idea presentation something that should be continued. Go, Nate! Much better venue - IAC location was a big obstacle to getting there and the sight lines were poor in many places. Wish we could do some early networking in the FIT ante room. Wish we could start earlier so those of us with early dates the next day could do post program networking. Why not start an hour earlier? 6:15 rather than 7:15 for the program. Doors open 5:30.
